Ceres Beach Clean Up: Plastic bottles and a rusty fridge!

On Saturday 22 June 2024, APEX teamed up with the Constance Ephelia Hotel for our second Ceres Beach Clean Up for the year. This time, over 50 volunteers joined us at Port Launay South Beach and mangrove marshes within the resort compound.

In just three hours, we collected an impressive 145 kg of trash! We picked up all sorts of things from plastic bottles to rubber items to even a rusty, old fridge!
Our volunteers were a diverse group. We had students, children from the President’s Village home who joined us for the second time, and members of the public. Children from Anse à La Mouche also came through. It was a real community effort!

Eric Crutzen, General Manager of APEX, shared why the Ceres Beach Clean Up events are so important: “The beach clean-up is crucial as it allows us to contribute positively to the environment. We are ever grateful to our event partners, like Constance Ephelia, who graciously host our team of volunteers, so we can do more to protect our beautiful beaches and marine life.”

After gathering the trash, sorting it, and weighing it, it was time to cool down with some delicious Ceres juices. And there’s always space for snacks, too!

The next Ceres Beach Clean Up takes place on Saturday, 20 July 2024. This time, we are partnering with the Carana Beach Hotel, Mahé.
