Ceres Beach Clean Up: 450kg of rubbish bagged at Anse A La Mouche

Our first Ceres Beach Clean Up for the year kicked off spectacularly on Saturday, 25 May! In partnership with Canopy by Hilton hotel, we were thrilled to have our largest turnout yet. Over 70 enthusiastic volunteers gathered at Anse A La Mouche Beach, and together, we cleared 450kg of rubbish in just 90 minutes!

Most of the trash was made up of plastics. We collected a variety of items ranging from plastic bottles and caps to tyres and glass alcohol bottles. “Both APEX and Ceres are deeply committed to protecting our environment, and this year we are excited to be hosting a Ceres Beach Clean Up every month until November,” explains Eric Crutzen, General Manager of APEX. “Moreover, tourism plays a significant role in Seychelles. We use images of our beautiful, pristine beaches to attract visitors so it’s critical we maintain our magnificent coastlines.”

Eco-minded volunteers are crucial to these efforts. We were delighted to see people of all ages at Anse A La Mouche beach last week. A delegation from Hilton Dubai joined us too, along with the following volunteers:

  • 20 volunteers from Canopy by Hilton Hotel
  • 15 children from Baie Lazare Primary School
  • 20 children from Anse Boileau Secondary School
  • 13 people from the School of Advance Level studies (SALS)
  • 10 volunteers from APEX

Our heartfelt gratitude to each and every volunteer who dedicated their time and efforts for this important initiative. We couldn’t have done it without you!

This is the third year that APEX is hosting the Ceres Beach Clean Up. Our next clean-up takes place on Saturday, 22 June 2024. Keep an eye on our socials for all the details. We’d love to see you, your friends and family there. Are you ready to do more to protect our beaches?
